England: Day 1

[dropcap custom_class=”whb”]Today was Jay’s day to decide what we were going to do.  He wanted to go to the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings.  He located it in our English Heritage guidebook and found that it was three hours away.  After breakfast we set off for Battle in Sussex.  We were able to find it and find parking.  We walked all through the abbey and along the walkways where the battle was fought.

Afterwards, we were pulling out of the car park when I heard what sounded like a marching band.  I looked up and on the street that we were fixing to pull out on, was a parade going by.  There was a marching band followed by a lot of children that looked like they were dressed in their girl or boy scout uniforms.  I turned off the car and we watched the parade go by.  It only lasted for a few minutes.

After the parade was over we could leave. We next drove to Pervency, to the castle there.  We walked all through it. By then it was time to head back to Cheltenham. This night we picked an Irish pub to eat at.  I had a hamburger and Jay had a chicken sandwich.  Tomorrow, we turn in the car and head into London.
