Today, Jay and I are starting a new adventure. We are traveling to the island of St. Maarten. The island has two countries, the French side and the Dutch side. We will be staying in Phillipsburg, which is on the Dutch side. Our flight is leaving at 6;30 in the morning and we are flying out of Tampa. Tampa is about a five hour drive from our home. Since our flight is leaving so early in the morning, we decided to drive down to Tampa today and spend the night.
Before we we can leave we have to get our animals situated. We have two dogs and a cat and none of them go to the same place. Yesterday, I dropped Zack, the Havaneese off at the vets, where he stays while we are gone. We will drop Shadow, our German Shepherd off at his kennel which is about 20 minutes from our home. the cat, Max, gets to stay with my brother who lives about forty five minutes away.
I just got a new SUV which is a little smaller than my old SUV so I wasn’t sure that everything would fit. We put our two large suitcases in the back. Max had to go back there with the luggage in his crate. We had purchased a larger crate because he out grew his old crate. The new larger crate will not fit on the floor in front of the first passenger seat. Shadow goes in the back seat. I got something to go over the seats so he won’ t get them dirty. This car is a little lower so it was easier for Shadow to get in the car.
After we got everything in the car, off we went. The first stop was for Shadow, then the second stop was for Max. This new car has a built in GPS, so we set it for our hotel in Tampa and off we went. For the most part, the weather on the drive was good. We did get into a couple of light showers on the way down. We arrive at our hotel about six and got checked in. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a Queen suite. It had two queen beds and two televisions.
We found a steak house to eat supper at. Neither Jay nor I had steak. Jay had roasted chicken and I had fried shrimp. After supper, it was back to the hotel for an early night since we have to get up at four in the morning to make our flight.
