July 5 – Monday

Jay and I are starting on a new adventure today.  We are going on a road trip that is going to last for 19 days.  I have been planning it for a month.  We will be traveling from our home in North Florida to the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana.  I have not been to three of those states before, so I will be able to add them to the lists of states I have traveled too and it will get me closer to reaching my bucket list goal of traveling to all 50 states.

Because we will be doing a lot of driving, my fur babies, Max The Cat and my little dog Zack will be spending the time at the vets.   We will not be taking any highways on this trip and will try to take as many scenic roads that we can.  We are taking food and snacks with us so we can just make us sandwiches for lunch.  We will eat supper in restaurants.  Jay likes to know where we are stopping each night, so I have reservations for every night of our trip.

Today, we got up and loaded everything into the car.  We were on the road by nine.  My first stop was to fill up the gas tank.  I like to start every day with a full tank of gas.  Then we were off.  Today was just a travel day to get us through Georgia and into Alabama.  Our first night we had hotel reservations in Tuscumbia, AL, which is just outside of Muscle Shoals.  We arrived around 5:30 and checked into our hotel.  Supper was at Sandwiches from Subway.

When I bought gas in Florida, it was $3.00 a gallon.  We stopped in Alabama and bought gas for $2.80 / gallon.  The gas in Alabama was 20 cents less a gallon than the gas in Florida.

Well tomorrow is another day and hopefully it will be more than just trying to get from one place to another,8 which
