Today we are4 heading to Hydra for one night.  It is an island in the Aegean Sea that does not allow any wheeled vehicles – no cars, motorcycles, scooters or bicycles.  The only means of transportation around the island is by walking, donkeys or water taxis.   We had arranged for a car to pick us up at or hotel at 7 in the morning to take us to the port.  At the port, we located our ferry.  Our tickets were on my phone, they scan the ticket and put your luggage on racks at the back of the ferry.  Our seats were at the very front.  The ferry made one stop at Poros before reaching Hydra.

On Hydra, we hired donkeys to carry our luggage to our hotel since it was uphill the whole way.  We stayed in a lovely little hotel that had no elevator and real keys for the door.  It wasn’t too far from the port, so it was in a great location.

After checking into the hotel and dropping off our luggage, we walked back down to the port area and started walking around the island.  It was a lovely day for a walk, the sun was shining, but it wasn’t hot.    There were benches every so often that you could sit on and rest.  There were some hills that you had to walk up, but the road was paved with cobblestones.  After walking for a while, we turned around and headed back and did some shopping for souvenirs on the way.

After resting up at our hotel, we headed out to eat dinner.  Everywhere you go, there are cats.  When you are eating they will come and sit next to you and look at you begging for food.  We had one tonight, that would occasionally stand up to see if we had any food left that we might share with him.
