After breakfast, Jay wanted to mail his postcards, so we walked to a post office. He needed to buy stamps for two of the postcards, while the rest were already stamped. We then walked back to the hotel and checked out. Checking out consisted of dropping the room key into a basket on the receptionist’s desk.
We had tickets to Blair Castle. It opened at 10:00, so we drove there and parked. We then toured the castle for about an hour.
Our next stop was Dunfallandy Stone. It is located on a private farm and requires climbing a steep staircase. I parked the car and let Jay go up by himself. It only took him a few minutes.
Next, we headed to The Hermitage. You walk along paths through Douglas fir trees on the way to the Black Linn Falls. It was a nice, pleasant walk.
After that, we drove to Doune Castle. This castle was used in some scenes from the TV show Outlander. I have never seen the show. We climbed all three levels of the castle.
Our final stop was the National Wallace Monument. We started walking up the steep path, and I quickly realized I would not be able to make the entire walk. I told Jay to go ahead while I waited at the car, so he continued up the path.
Then I realized there was a free shuttle that would take visitors up to the monument. I took the shuttle to the top. I did not see Jay on the way up or when I arrived. I took a few pictures and then rode the shuttle back down.
