Heading to Barbados

Jay and I started a new adventure today.  We are traveling to Barbados where we will be for four nights and five days.  As usual, we had to get all of our animals situated.  Monday, Jay took Max the cat to my brothers, Wednesday morning, I dropped Zack my little dog at the vet’s and we took Shadow, the German Shepherd to his kennel.

We were flying out of our home town for a change.  The flight was from Tallahassee to Miami then on to Barbados.  It was scheduled to leave at 6:20 in the morning.  We left our house at 4 AM, because it is a 30 minute drive to the airport and I like to get there in plenty of time.  We were each taking a carry-on.  We were not checking any luggage since it was such a short trip.  The flight from Tallahassee to Miami was uneventful.  We had a three hour layover in Miami.  We boarded the plane and taxied out to the runway.  Then the pilot came over the intercom and said that we were going to be delayed because of bad weather in the carribean.  We sat on the plane for an hour before we were finally able to take off.

We arrived in Barbados around 3:30 in the afternoon.  We waited a while to go through immigration, then found our car rental agency.  We were renting a car with a GPS.  They drive on the left side of the road in Barbados, so that takes some getting used to.  We managed to find our hotel with out getting in an accident.  We checked into our hotel and went up to our room.  When I opened the door, there was someone else’s luggage in the room.  We then went back downstairs and told the manager.  He assigned us a new room and also offered us a free breakfast in the morning.    Our room is ocean view, we overlook the pool and beyond that is the ocean.  For dinner, we ate in the restaurant in the hotel.  They were having a barbecue buffet with a band playing.  They also had a carribean show with a dancer and a limbo contest,  We were also given a free drink with our meal, because of the mixup when we checked in.  I was sitting next to a couple from Scotland, John and Linda.  He was very friendly and loud.  After dinner and the show we returned to our hotel room.
