This morning we did not eat breakfast at the hotel as it was very expensive. Instead after we both took baths and packed our suitcases, we left the hotel and walked for 6 minutes to the parking garage where we had left our car. We then drove the car back to the hotel, where we checked out of the hotel and loaded our luggage into the car. Then it was time to leave Geneva behind.
There apparently was a bicycle road race today. We encountered hundreds of bicyclists all the way from Geneva to Nyon. Just past Nyon we turned off the road and headed north. We stopped at the Grottoes du Vallorbe and got out and stretched our legs. It was a nice little walk along a mountain stream up to the Grottoes entrance. We did not go into the grottoes.
After we left Vallorbie, I did not realize how close we were to the French boarder. We acidentally crossed the border into France. We went through the border and started to turn around and then thought better of it and drove a little farther before we stopped and checked where we were going. We then turned around and drove back toward Switzerland. The border guard stopped ur car and gave me the third degree. He really talked down to us. I just told him the truth that we had accidentilly entered France and we were sorry. I apoligized several times. He eventually let us go. We then headed on to Neuchatel where we found our hotel.
