Day 31 and Day 32 were spent on Naxos. We spent the two days driving all over Naxos and exploring everything it had to offer. The one mishap was when I was turning the car around, I did not realize there was a curb and I scratched the front bumper on it. When I returned the car, that is what the guy noticed right off the bat. I told his it was just a small scratch and he just looked at me as if to say: “Oh really”. Well we returned tbe rental car and ate breakfast before it was time to get on the ferry.
Day 33, Thursday, we are taking the fast ferry, SeaJets WorldChampion Jet from Naxos to Santorini. the trip is supposed to be 1 hour and 15 minutes with a quick stop in Ios. The ferry ride was very smooth and fast. When we arrived in Santorini the weather was beautiful. It was the warmest weather we have had. There was a ton of drivers there to pick up arrivals. We had to look and look before we found our driver. He drove us to the hotel we are staying at in Fira. Our room overlooks the caldera and the hotel is at the end of the center of FIra. We got checked in and then went to get lunch. We had been debating about whether we really needed a car. Parking and traffic is horrible. We finally decided we would go get the car. All buses to everywhere on the island go through Fira. The bus stop is a couple of blocks down the hill from our hotel. There is one bus that goes from Fira to the Airport and it cost 1,60 Euros per person. We found which bus we need to take and got on it. It is only about a 20 minute ride away. Once we got to the airport and found the car rental desk, he said we were late picking up our car and he had given it away. He would give us a different car, but it would cost more. We decided that fate had intervened and we were not supposed to have a car on Santorini. I think it is just as well. We can get where we need to go by bus. So we turned around and took the next bus back to Fira. Jay decided he wanted to go to Kamari, so we got on the bus to Kamari. This bus was standing room only. We walked around Kamari and then we stopped and had supper. Then it was time to walk back to the bus stop and get on the bus back to FIra.
Once we got back to Fira, we had to walk back up a very steep hill to our hotel. We made it just in time to watch the sunset. After the sun went down, I hopped in the shower and Jay went for a walk.
