Tuesday, Day 38, May 30 was our last full day in Heraklion. We spent the day driving around enjoying ourselves.
Wednesday, Day 39, May 31, we checked out of our VRBO and drove to Chania. In Chania, we had to drive around quite a bit to find somewhere to park. We finally found a parking garage and pulled into it. We unloaded our luggage and got our ticket for the car and told her it would be there overnight. The parking garage was several blocks from our hotel. We had to roll the luggage to our hotel. We were able to get checked in and Jay immediately wanted to visit the old town and walk around. Our hotel is just on the outskirts of the Old Town. We walked around some, had lunch went back to the hotel to rest and then went out again for supper.
Thursday, Day 40, June 1, 2023 is my day to do what I want to do. I am still feeling the effects of the cold I caught a couple of weeks ago, so all I want to do is stay in the hotel room and rest. I am physically exhausted. I told Jay he could walk around and explore the area if he wanted to, just to text me occasionally so I would know that he was OK. He came back to get me for lunch. After lunch, he decided to hang out with me in the hotel room. We later went out for supper.
Friday, Day 41, June 2, 2023, we had planned on doing the Hop On Hop Off Sightseeing gbus today, but it was raining when we woke up. We had talked about going to a beach on Saturday, so we thought maybe we would do it today instead. We walked back to the garage to get our car. I talked to the attendent and she said that the garage is closed on Sunday. That is not good, we have to have our car on Sunday to drive back to Heraklion Airport to fly back to Athens. We decided to get our car out and see if we could find someplace else to park. There is city parking about a block from our hotel. We had tried it before, but it was always so busy. This time we headed there again, and I lucked out and saw somebody that was leaving and was able to take their parking space. I downloaded the app, so I could pay for the parking space on my phone. Apparently, you are only supposed to park there for 4 hours at a time. Well I am planning on being there 2 days. We will see how that goes. I did pay for 4 hours, when that runs out, I will pay for another 4 hours and keep doing it until I get the car on Sunday.
We then got lunch, before heading back to the hotel to wait out the rain. We will go out again tonight to get supper.
