Today is a travel day. We are traveling from Athens to London by plane. We are scheduled to be picked up at our hotel at 11 and driven to the airport. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to drive to the airport. Once we arrive at the airport, we have to go by the luggage storage area and get our two suitcases we have stored there.
We then needed to find the check-in lanes for British Airways. We had a line that we had to get in and wait. Eventually, we got up to the clerk. She checked us in. She was going to check our bags all the way through to Orlando, until I explained to her that we had to change airports and spend the night in London. We are flying into Heathrow and out of Gatwick. She then made us check our carryon bags because she said there was not enough room on the plane for them. We had to take our laptops out of the carryon bags and carry them with us. Jay’s laptop fit in his backpack, but I had to carry my laptop with me.
They had not assigned a gate yet, so we just found a place to sit and wait. Then we found out our plane was delayed an hour. So more waiting, Finally, it showed that it would be at gate A, but no number. We decided to go to the gate A section. We had to scan our ticket to get access and then go through the security screening. after security, we decided to eat lunch. Jay got a cheeseburger and I got chicken nuggets. they were terrible. They finally assigned a gate number to our flight and we headed to that gate. We were in the last group to board. The best thing was that I was sitting in the window seat and Jay had the aisle seat and there was nobody sitting between us.
When we landed we had to go through immigration to be admitted into the country. We then went to get our luggage, It took forever for them to bring the luggage. Our taxi driver was waiting for to drive us to the hotel at the Gatwick airport. We got checked in and ate supper.
