Wow, today starts our second week in Greece. I can’t believe it was one week ago today that we left home in sunny Florida.
Today we are leaving Hydra. Our ferry was scheduled to depart at 7:20 this morning. We got up at six and packed our bags. We had to carry our bags down to the port by ourself. Again, the ferry ride was very smooth and uneventful, While we were waiting for the ferry to arrive, Jay convinced me to book a car and driver to pick us up at Pireaus Port. I was planning for us to just take the train to the airport, but Jay was right having a car pick us up was easier. We were going to the airport to get our rental car to begin our trip around mainland Greece. They gave us a Mini Cooper.
When we left the airport we headed toward the Corinth Canal. We were on a toll road, but the traffic was not too bad. We reached the canal in about an hour. We watch them bungee jump off the bridge across the canal. No, Jay and I did not bungee jump. We also ate lunch while we were here. As it is with my luck, the tire pressure gage on the rental car is not working properly. I called Avis, but he said to just take is by a gas station and check the tire pressure. If they are not worried about it, then neither will I.
Our 2nd stop was Ancient Corinth, We got off the toll roads and told the GPS to avoid highways and toll roads. We spent a good bit of time here walking around. Next, we headed to a castle to a castle that was two miles away, unfortunately it was closed by the time we arrived.
Our last stop was the Ancient Theatre at the Asclepieon. We got out and walked around. It was a real pretty drivve through mountains. We then drove 30 more minutes to reach our hotel, There is no parking at the hotel, so after unloading the car and checking in, we had to go look for a parking space. We could not find anything on the streets around the hotel, so we ended up parking in the municipal lot a couple blocks away, We stopped and ate dinner on the walk back to the hotel.
