Heading to St. Gallen

This morning we got up and ate breakfast before we checked out of the hotel. I had arranged for the Check-in all ways hotel shuttle bus to pick us up and take us back to the airport to pick up our rental car. They did not have the size car I wanted so they gave us a Ford Edge instead. It is a little bigger than I wanted.

We drove to Kyburg Castle. You have to park on the edge of Kyburg and walk to the castle. It is probably less than a mile walk, but it wa pleasant. We paid to be able to enter the castle. We climbed up several steps and the view from the castle windows were beautiful.

After Kyburg, we drove t Winterthur, where we walked around before driving to Marthalen. Marthalen has beautiful wood timbered buildings. From there we went to Rhine Falls. We got out and bought our tickets and took the elevator down to the walkway near the falls. The falls were very beautiful. We then walked to the boat dock so we could take a boat tour. We had to take a red boat across the river to the other side where all the boat tours leave from. On the other side we got on the boad and it took us a little ways down the river before we headed back toward the falls. We got very close to the falls and were getting wet with the water spray. The tour lasted 30 minutes. Then we took the red boat back across the river and climbed back up the stairs until we got to the elevator which took us back to the top.

Next we headed to Stein am Rhein. This little town has a pedestrian street that had beautiful murals painted on all all of the building. THey were very beautiful.

After leaving Stein am Rhein and headed to St. Gallen where we were spending the night. It started to rain, but by the time we arrived at St. Gallen it had stopped raining. We parked in the parking garage near our hotel and walked until we found the hotel.
