Today we went looking for a place to change US dollars into euros. The hotel receptionist said we could change the money at a bank. We walked a couple of blocks to a bank, biput they said they do not exchange money. We then decided to go to Lagos. I had Googled a currency change and the address was in Lagos. When we got to the address we did not see the place. After walking around, I saw another bank and asked them. They said they only exchange money for their clients, but the nice gentleman was able to give me walking directions to the center of town where he said we should be able to find a currency exchange. It was probably a ten minute walk, but it was a nice day. And sure enough we did see a currency exchange and was able to get more euros. We walked around a little bit and ended up going into this shop where I bought two t-shirts. We then walked back to our car.
Our next destination was back to Silves to see if we could visit their castle. There was not the traffic like there was on Sunday. We were able to park not yo far from the castle and walk up the hill to it. It cost 2.60 euros per person to enter. We were able to walk around the edge of the castle walls. Being up high you can see a long way. After walking all the way around, we stopped at the cafe located inside the castle walls and got ice cream and cokes. Jay got two scoops of vanilla with fruit. I got a crepe with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It was good. Then we walked back down to our car.
I needed to find a post office to pay a toll, so we tried to find one, but did not have much luck. Jay wanted to go back to Lagos, so that is what we did. When we arrived in Lagos, we parked near the water and walked down the hill into town. We walked around and Jay took his pictures.
Then we decided to return back to our hotel in Sagres. Once at our hotel we put our purchases in our room and walked down the road to find something to eat doe supper. A couple of blocks away we found a restaurant called Carlos. We decided to eat here. Jay had the grilled salmon and I had the grilled snapper. It was good.
After supper, we stopped at the market next to the restaurant to get some provisions for a snack later. Then back to our hotel. Jay is planning our itinerary for tomorrow. (in case you are wondering, I walked 19,212 steps today. That is almost eight miles.)
