This morning after breakfast we checked out of our hotel and headed to Marvao.  The drive was beautiful and again we went down some one lane roads through the country.  When we arrived, Jay said we had to park down below and walk up to the castle.  Again we had to walk up stairs and then up steep roads to get to the castle.  It costs 1.30 Euro per person to enter.  It sits at the top of the mountain and you have beautiful views.  You can even see Spain,  Jay climbed up onto the walls and walked around, but I stayed down and sat in the shade in a chair.  While he was exploring I was reading the handout.  It was very interesting.  For example, the castle had a cistern that would hold enough water for six months.  They needed that much water in case the castle was under siege, because there was no natural water source such as a river or spring on the mountain.

After, we finished exploring Marvao, we headed onto Evora.  We are spending two night in Evora.  We checked into our hotel and immediately set out exploring.  We walked past the main square until we came to the ruins of the Roman temple.  Then we headed back toward our hotel looking for somewhere to eat.  We settled on one of the outdoor cafes.  Jay ordered the Portuguese style steak.  I was going to order spaghetti because I was tired of seafood, but the waiter said you did not come all this way to Portugal to eat Italian.  He then suggested this pork dish with clam sauce, salad and fries.  It was ok.  After dinner, Jay wanted ice cream, so we went in search of an ice cream shop.  We found one and we each enjoyed a scoop of ice cream.  Then it was time to return to our hotel for the evening.
