Jay and I are going to Boston, Rhode Island and Connecticut. I had a companion pass that was going to expire the end of September. It had to be used for a round trip domestic fare. Siince there are 4 states that I have not been to, we decided to use the companion pass to fly to Boston, then rent a car and drive to Rhode Island and Connecticit before returning to Boston. So at the end of this trip, I will have been to 48 of the 50 states.
We dropped our dog Zack and cat Max at their kennel on Saturday. Sunday, we took our other cat, Pepper to my brothers. This morning, we left my house at 7 to drive to Jacksonville. It was cheaper to fly out of Jacksonville and we could get a non-stop flight to Boston. The drive to Jacksonville was uneventful. I had checked in for our flight the night before, so I had the boarding passes on my phone. We just needed to get the luggage tags at the airport, I was able to get my luggage tag to print, but the printer jammed when printing Jay’s. We had to go and wait in this long line to have the attendant print out Jay’s luggage tag. We have TSA Precheck, so going through security was a breeze. We made it to our gate and then found out or plane was late. We were about 30 minutes late leaving. The flight was smooth, and we landed in Boston with no problems. At baggage claim, my bag came out first and then there was like a 20-minute wait before any other bags arrived. After Jay got his bag, we walked outside and got on the shuttle bus 22 to go to the Rental Car Center. We had to stand in another long line to get our rental car. Finally, we had our rental car and headed Newport RI. Getting out of the airport was difficult. There was so much traffic, and we were going slow, bumper to bumper. We eventually got out of Boston and the traffic cleared out. We reached our hotel around 7:30 PM.
After checking into our hotel, we went walking around the area to find somewhere to eat dinner. We decided on a Mexican restaurant. After dinner, we went back to our hotel, because it had been a very long day.
