Today we were leaving Zermat and heading to Lausanne. After breakfast we checked out of the hotel and the hotel shuttle took us back to the train station. We had to take the train back to Tasch to get our car. The train ride is about 20 minutes and was uneventful. After getting our car, we got gas and then took off. We really didn;t do much on the drive to Lausanne, except at one point it looked like the GPS had us going down a bike path. We did stop in Leuk and walked around. We also stopped in Sion and parked in a parking garage. We were going to eat lunch but it was too late. So we had a couple of cokes and left.
We drove through Montreaux, which was very busy and then we make it to Lausanne. We found our hotel but could not stop so we drove around and reset our GPS to locate our hotel, only it had us going by it on the wrong side of the street, so we pulled into a parking garage. This parking garage was valet service. Usually people stop in front of the hotel and unload their bags and then they come and valet park the car. We of course do things backwards. We unloaded our bags and the valet helped us put our bags on the elevator and told us to press one. We went to the 1st floor and there were some steps that Jay had to carry the bags down. We were just trying to decide which way to head to find the hotel when the valet came running up and said we had a miscommunication, he was going to help us take our bags to the hotel. Which he did. He took us to the hotel and told the jhotel clerk that we had already valed our car. We got checked into the hotel.
We then went out to walk and eat supper. Jay of course takes off, I don;t know where he was heading. I eventually got him to stop and asked where he was going. He said he was heading to the lake. I asked him if he knew where it was and he did not. I then used my phone to get directions to the lake. We walked around for a while and then stopped and ate dinner.
After dinner, we walked some more until Jay said he was ready to go back to the hotel. The hotel had given us passes that coule be used on the subway or buses. I suggested we take the subway. We found the subway entrance and got on the #2 train. After 7 stops we got off the hotel and walked about three minutes back to the hotel.
I really need to thank Jay for making sure I got in my 10,000 steps today. 13,106 steps, 5.30 miles
