We had to get up at four this morning to catch our plane at 6:30. Since we had an early flight I told Jay he had to take a bath last night because I wasn’t getting up any earlier. We got up, dressed, packed our bags and checked out of the hotel. The hotel was just a few minutes from the airport. We parked in the Economy garage and checked in for our flight. Our flight was from Tampa to Atlanta with about a one hour layover in Atlanta, before boarding the plane for St. Maarten. The two flights were uneventful. We had an empty seat between us because the plane was not anywhere near being full. We breezed through customs, found the car rental shuttle. We got our rented car and directions to our hotel and off we went.
There was a wait to check into our hotel because there were several people ahead of us. When it came our time, she assigned us a map and gave us a list of activities. The bell man helped Jay get the luggage out of the car. When we got to our room, the attendant was cleaning the room and said it would probably take two more hours. I asked if I could change my clothes, I had on jeans and it was hot. I left my jacket on top of a map and the information the hotel gave us on the counter. Jay and I changed clothes and said we would be back later.
We walked around for a bit, then decided to go back and get the car because it was hot. We drove all over the island, but we had trouble finding our hotel. I told Jay to get us back to the airport and we could find our hotel from there. at one point, Jay had me driving down a one way street the wrong way. We eventually found the road to the hotel. That’s when we realized the maid had thrown out all of my papers. Luckily I remembered the wifi password and was able to get another map from the front desk.
Jay and I walked across the street to a restaurant for supper. Jay had a cheeseburger and I had steak kebabs with a baked potato and rice. It was good and I was hungry since I had not eaten a meal all day. Then it was back to the hotel.
