This morning we got up and had breakfast, then walked around St. Gallen. Jay wanted to visit the Abbey Library. We paid the fee and you have to put slippers on over your shoes so you don’t damage the floor, We then drove to Appenzell. We walked around Appenzell. Most everything was closed because it was Sundae did not stop here but just drove through it and headed to St. Moritz.
To get to St. Moritz we had to drive over an alpine pass. The road had very many curves and switchbacks. The snow was next to the road in some places. It was slow going with all the curves. At one point, i pulled over so Jay could take pictures. A police car pulled in behind me. He got out of his car and asked to see my drivers license and the cars papers. He then walked around the car before giving me back the documents. I think he was doing just random stops.
We eventually reached St. Moritz and found our hotel.
After Kyburg, we drove t Winterthur, where we walked around before driving to Marthalen. Marthalen has beautiful wood timbered buildings. From there we went to Rhine Falls. We got out and bought our tickets and took the elevator down to the walkway near the falls. The falls were very beautiful. We then walked to the boat dock so we could take a boat tour. We had to take a red boat across the river to the other side where all the boat tours leave from. On the other side we got on the boad and it took us a little ways down the river before we headed back toward the falls. We got very close to the falls and were getting wet with the water spray. The tour lasted 30 minutes. Then we took the red boat back across the river and climbed back up the stairs until we got to the elevator which took us back to the top.
Next we headed to Stein am Rhein. This little town has a pedestrian street that had beautiful murals painted on all all of the building. THey were very beautiful.
After leaving Stein am Rhein and headed to St. Gallen where we were spending the night. It started to rain, but by the time we arrived at St. Gallen it had stopped raining. We parked in the parking garage near our hotel and walked until we found the hotel.
