We decided to combine Himeji Castle with a stop in Kobe. First we went to Himeji Castle by bullet train. It was another hot beautiful day. The castle was built over 600 years ago. It is covered in white plaster and is six stories. Once you enter the main keep you are required to remove your shoes. The wood floors are worn smooth. The stairs to access each floor are very steep. I managed to make it up each floor. Coming down was more difficult. As I said the steps were very steep and worn smooth. I finally just sat down and kind is slide down the steps. I think I embarressed Jay. Next we took the train to Kobe. From the train station we walked down to the port where they had experienced a bad earthquake several years ago.
The one thing, I wanted to do in Kobe was to eat Kobe beef. Using the app TripAdvisor I was able to locate a steak house and we enjoyed a late lunch/early supper. They prepared the meal right before us. The steak was very good. Then it was time to board the train for Osaka.
