Day 7, Saturday was a travel day. We took the train from Dresden to Nuremberg, a trip of about 4 hours. The first part of the trip was from Dresden to Leipzig, were we had 30 minutes to change trains. We stored our suitcases and enjoyed the ride. In Leipzig, the sun had come out, so it was pleasant sitting outside waiting for the train. When we got on the train it was very crowded and there was not anywhere to store our bags. The very small luggage storage area was full. Jay ended up standing by the train doorway for the two-hour ride guarding our luggage. Along the way, or train apparently had problems, so they stopped the train and made repairs to one of the cars. This put us about 30 minutes late getting to Nuremberg. The interesting thing of the train ride was you would go through a tunnel and when you came out the other side, the ground would be covered in snow, and it was very foggy. Then you would go through another tunnel and when you came out, there would not be any snow on the ground. This happened several times on the journey.
Once we arrived in Nuremberg, we took a taxi to our hotel. Our room was ready since we were supposed to arrive the day before. We rested a bit, before we ventured out to the Christmas Market. The market was just a block away and it was extremely crowded. You could not really look at the different stalls because of the amount of people. It was much more crowded than the Dresden markets. It was also Saturday night, wo that may have made a difference also. We could not find a place to eat so we decided to go back to our hotel and order in. After eating dinner, Jay and I was exhausted, and we went to bed at 9.
Day 8, Sunday was spent in Nuremberg. We walked around the Christmas market. I bought a Christmas mug filled with Kinderpunch so I could keep the holiday mug. I also bought two Christmas ornaments. We then walked to a Toy Museum and went inside to look at all the old toys. They let Jay in for free because he has a disability (he is deaf)4. Apparently, in Germany if you are disabled, you can get a card that allows you to get into museums for free. I said we were not German, but they let Jay in anyway. After t4he museum, we walked up a hill to get to the castle. We made it to the castle wall but did not actually go into the castle. It was difficult for me to get up the hill. I was willing to find someplace to sit down and let Jay go in the castle, but he said he didn’t want to.
We then walked back down the hill and found a restaurant to eat lunch. We were served by an older German gentleman who did not speak much English. I ordered a salad and Jay had a steak. I have found that when I travel, I am not very hungry. I did have him bring me a bottle of water, which I drank most of. After lunch, we stopped and Jay bought some souvenirs, before heading back to the hotel. I took a n8ap and Jay went to the gym. He also went to the store near to the hotel to get him some water. We ag2ain order supper to be delivered, before calling it a night.
