San Francisco: Day 3

[dropcap custom_class=”whb”]Today we walked down to Union Square. Our hotel is several blocks from there but it is downhill all the way.  At Union Square, we bought tickets on the Deluxe Sightseeing Hop on Hop off bus.  We got there in time to take the bus that goes to The Golden Gate Bridge.  We were sitting on the top out in the open and it was very cold.  I thought it would warm up like it did the day before but it didn’t.  It was also very windy going across the bridge.  They take you to the park just over the bridge and wait for about twenty minutes and then they take you back to Union Square.  Once back at Union Square, we got on the bus that takes you on the downtown loop.  We rode it over to Ghiradelli Square, which is down on the waterfront.  Ghiradelli had several different shops all selling chocolate.  Some were ice cream parlors, others just sold Ghiradelli chocolates.  We bought 1/2 pound of various chocolate flavored squares for $10.  After that we went back to wait for the next bus to come and pick us up.  We waited and waited and it did not come.  After about 40 minutes we decided to walk back to the main bus stop in Fisherman’s Wharf. The traffic was really bad because there was a football bowl game in town that night and all the fans were in town for the game.

We got back on the bus and were scared to get off again so we rode it back to Union Square.  At Union Square this time we got on the Green bus line.  It took us by Haight Ashbury, near the Painted Ladies, by the Japanese Tea Garden and back to Union Square.  We did not get off the bus because it was the last bus.
