Today was supposed to be a long fun day. We were scheduled to take a tour of to the isles of Mull and Iona. We would take the ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull, where we would be met by a tour bus and given a tour of the island. Then we would get on another ferry to the Isle of Iona, where we were basically on our own to explore. We had booked tickets to the Iona Abbey. Then we would get back on the ferry to the Isle of Mull and get back on the tour bus that would drive us back across the island to catch another ferry back to Oban. That sounded like a wonderful way to spend the day. The only problem was that when we woke up, it was pouring down rain. We got dressed and ate breakfast. By the time we finished it had just about quick raining. We walked to our car and paid for parking for the whole day and then started walking to the tour office. We had received an email with a link for the ferry tickets, but I could not get the link to open, so we needed to stop at the tour office to get the ferry tickets. On the walk to the office, it started raining again. When we arrived, they told me that the tour had been cancelled because of the weather, the ferries were not operating. So, we turned around and started to walk back to our hotel. It started raining really hard on the way back. By the time I got back to the hotel, I was totally soaked.
We decided to make this a day of rest and leisure. I changed into dry clothes and lay down to take a nap. Several hours later, we got up and went to eat lunch, by this time it had stopped raining and turned into a beautiful day. Jay headed us toward Subway. After lunch, we were meandering back to the hotel, we stopped for ice cream. We also came across a small war museum and decided to stop. The museum was free, but they did ask that you make a donation. It was very interesting. Then we headed back to the hotel where we relaxed for a while. Jay did go out for a walk and came back to get me for supper.
