This morning, i was going to take a shower before breakfast, but the hotel did not have any hot water. So, we ate breakfast and checked out of the hotel. It was another rainy day in Scotland. We were driving to the Isle of Skye, but there were several places we wanted to stop on our way, our first stop was Dunsraffnage Castle. This castle was built by Duncan MacDougall in the 1200’s. It was captured by Robert the Bruce in 1309. Flora Macdonald was imprisoned here after helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape Scotland. The 3-story gate house was built in 1500.
Our next stop was the Castle Stalker View Cafe & Giftshop. This is a stop on the road that allows a great view of Castle Stalker. This castle is located on an island. They do have tours that will take you out to the castle, but most people just stop here and view it from afar.
Next, we went to the Commando Memorial. This memorial is in honor of the men of the commandos who died in Worl War II. The commandos were formed by Winston Churchill. The were an elite force that could fight in different environments. 1700 commandos lost their lives.
We then headed to our hotel located in Broadford on the Isle of Skye. By this time, it was still raining and had turned cold. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and called it a night.
