Today we took the ferry from Scrabster to Stromness. But first we had to get to the ferry terminal from our hotel. It is about a 2 hour and 40-minute drive. The drive was uneventful, and we did not stop along the way. I wanted to make sure we got there on time. We arrived at Scrabster and checked in. We then got in line behind two other cars. We had a wait, so we waited in the car. Finally, it was time to load the vehicles onto the ferry. Once on the ferry, we got out of the car and headed upstairs. The actual ferry ride is only about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
When we docked in Stromness, we drove off the ferry and headed toward our hotel in Kirkwell. It was about a 30 minute drive. We got checked into the hotel and rested for a bit. We tried to make a reservation for dinner in the hotel restaurant, but they were fully booked. We tried another restaurant, but they were also full. We did make a reservation for the next night in the hotel restaurant. We decided to walk and see if we could find somewhere to eat. The only place we saw only had room in front of a window with high stools. We took it and ate dinner. We then walked to a grocery store for drinks and snacks, then back to our hotel.
