Today, we took the ferry from Scrabster to Stromness. But first, we had to get to the ferry terminal from our hotel. It was about a 2-hour and 40-minute drive. The drive was uneventful, and we did not stop along the way because I wanted to make sure we arrived on time.
We arrived in Scrabster, checked in, and then got in line behind two other cars. Since we had a wait before boarding, we stayed in the car. Finally, it was time to load the vehicles onto the ferry. Once on board, we got out of the car and headed upstairs. The actual ferry ride was only about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
When we docked in Stromness, we drove off the ferry and headed toward our hotel in Kirkwall. It was about a 30-minute drive. We checked into the hotel and rested for a bit.
We tried to make a reservation for dinner at the hotel restaurant, but it was fully booked. We also tried another restaurant, but they were full as well. However, we were able to make a reservation for the following night at the hotel restaurant.
We decided to walk around and see if we could find somewhere to eat. The only place we found had seating available in front of a window with high stools. We took the seats and ate dinner there. Afterward, we walked to a grocery store to buy drinks and snacks before returning to the hotel.
