This morning, we ate breakfast and checked out of our hotel. We had a few stops to make before leaving the Isle of Skye.
Our first stop was the Church of Kilchrist ruins. It was located along a single-track road in the middle of sheep pastures. Only the ruins remain.
Next, we drove to Elgol, a small village at the end of the road. It was also reached by a single-track road. Afterward, we turned around and drove to Armadale Castle and its gardens. The castle is now in ruins, but you can still tell it was once beautiful. It also had a wonderful view overlooking the water. We walked through the gardens and visited the museum as well.
Then it was time to leave the Isle of Skye. We drove through Kyle of Lochalsh to the Loch Carron Viewpoint. The views were incredible.
Next, we drove to Blackwater Falls. We parked in the picnic area parking lot and walked to the falls. It took about 20 minutes to walk there and back. It was a nice, peaceful walk through the woods along a paved one-lane road.
Finally, we arrived at our hotel. It was in the middle of nowhere. The nearest grocery store was about 15 miles away. I am not sure I would even call it a grocery store; it was more like a convenience store. We drove there to pick up drinks for later and then returned to the hotel, where we had dinner in the restaurant.
Jay had the salmon, and I had the venison. It was very good. After dinner, we went back to our room to rest up for our ferry ride to the Orkney Islands the next day.
