Today, Jay and I ate breakfast and checked out of the hotel.  We had the receptionist call a taxi for us to take us to the car rental place.  The car rental place we chose was near the Glasgow airport, we got there early, so we did not have to wait.  We had rented a small SUV that was an automatic.  It turned out to be a hybrid.  It took some time getting used to driving on the left-hand side of the road, I did sideswipe a parked car with my mirror.  It did not hurt my car.  There was a lot of me running on the edge of the road.

Our first stop was Hunterston Castle, the ancestral home of the Clan Hunter.  We were given a private tour of the castle.  Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the castle.  It was very interesting to hear stories about the various members of the Hunter Clan.  The castle itself was not very big, but it was three stories.

After the castle we stopped at Newark Castle and toured it.  It is home to the Maxwell Clan.  It is currently owned by the Historical Scotland.

We had planned to make several other stops but could not find them or there was no where to park, so we decided to head to our hotel in Oban.
